When I nurse my baby she presses on my breast, almost like she is kneading it, like a kitten does. This is my first baby so I don't know if all babies do that. Just curious if it's some type of instinct thing or just my baby.

It is normal for a baby to do it. They sometimes start around 3 months or so. When they realize they can do thin gs with their hands. If you were giving your baby formula he/she would try and place their hand on the bottle. It also helps get the milk out faster. My baby 19 weeks and now does it all the time.

Are you on a schedule with him, or do you nurse him "on demand"? He may just not be hungry at the time and will want to eat later. If this happens only occasionally I wouldn't worry about it--he may just want to roll around and explore other things. He'll eat when he's hungry. Another thought is that he may have gas which was painful for him. You could try laying him on his back and working his legs around to see if it helps release any backed up gas. Just a thought...Good luck.

I think it helps then get more milk or something. All 3 of my children did it when I was nursing too.

It's normal. It's instinct for them to bring their hands to the breast or bottle.

Isn't it sweet? :)

I nursed my son and he always did it. I think it's just natural for them to like to touch their mother's skin.

My baby would often put one hand on my breast while breastfeeding.

Yes, it's normal. Sometimes they do that to help keep the milk flowing.
