Anyone out there been to the Montreal F1 race and sat in grandstand 12? I just bought my ticket in that grandstand and I'm wondering if I would be able to see the starting grid from there, or whether my view would be obstructed and I'd have to wait until the cars enter that first complex of corners before they come into view.

I've been to the Canadian Grand Prix lots of times, but I must confess I never sat in a grandstand. I've had other privileges.
Grandstand No 12 is on the outside of the first complex of turns and it will be difficult to see all the way back to the starting grid. Still, if you use binoculars, you might be able to see a bit of it.
I presume you will be using public transport to get to the track (unless you are with a team or using the helicopter service, it's the only way to get there) and you should bear in mind that the Metro Station (Subway) is at the other end of the track, so allow quite a bit of time to walk to your seat.

i've never been to the race, but watching d cars at d first couple of corners is much more exciting, than d starting grid.
this is where there is battle for position and tussle and struggle..... in d starting grid at the start, all cars have to move straight, so ther is no excitement, and we may not know soon who has done it in d first lap!!!!
