Effect and affect are homophones. This means that they have the same sound, but different spelling.

Effect-The aftermath of an event. Ex. Wet grass was the effect of the rain.

Affect-The process of showing care or love towards one self or another. Ex. John was affectionate when he gave $1,000 to the homeless person.

Effect (n) : result

Effect (v) : to bring something about. Almost always used as "to effect change"

Affect (n): emotional state

they're pretty similar. Usually, affect is reserved for changing emotions or feelings/
