I don't think you would want to do so. If you are smelling mildew in the mattress than that means the mildew is inside and there is no way you are going to get rid of it. Do you really want to sleep inhaling mildew?

Mattresses aren't that expensive. Replace it.

I know what you mean. If the matress was sitting in a house or room that smelled of mildew it might be saturated in there and sometimes febreeze doesn't work. I would try a clorox to water solution. 1 part clorox, 5 parts water. (I wouldnt try any less because bleach is a very strong cleaner, so I would be careful not to make the bleach half of the solution to strong, or then you will be smelling straight clorox at night instead of mildew, I dont know which of those 2 would be worse!). Put the solution in a spay bottle and saturate the matress well (but not so well that it is driping, just very wet to the touch), let it dry in the heat or inside because it is hard to tell what the humiditty outside will be like and that would just make it worse. When its fully dry, follow up with a light spritzing of febreeze and your matress should smell fresher then ever! Be careful that your matress doesnt actually have mildew growing inside of it though, that could be dangerous. Good look!

Mold can ,make you sick. The mold could be deep inside of the mattress. You spray bleach and water mixture to spritz on it or Frebrez.
.You are better off to get a new mattress. If you can't afford a new mattress get on from a used furniture store or a thrift shop. The state makes them to spray the mattresses before selling them so they are safe for use. Mildew and mold can make people very ill.

Mold and mildew can make you sick and fabreez just covers it up for the most part. It would be better to get the matress professionally cleaned so that it will be cleaned all the way through to the middle carpet cleaners will usually do this for you or just buy a new matress.

Spray w/Febreze & put it out in the sun for several days. Obviously, don't take it out if it's raining or humid.
