does the police try to find out why the person tried to commit suicide? do they question family members, friends, and co workers to find the reason or do they just put suicide in the death certificate and close the case?

If they're positive it's suicide and not a homicide, I guess the case is closed.

obviously they do. I actually were a police officer for 40 years, and that i spent 12 years in homicide. In homicide we spent some distance extra time investigating suspicious/unknown deaths and suicides than we did Murders. the different fellow is ideal, the Coroner guidelines on the way of death (homicide, Suicide, unintended, organic or Undetermined). yet, the Police are accountable to habit a thorough study and confirm all the information. Like yet another fellow stated, there are not any "obvious" suicides. There are in reality deaths which seem suicides. they should be investigated thoroughly to get rid of the chance on the death as quite some thing else; a homicide or maybe an twist of destiny. I actually have investigated 1000's of suicides. i found that they are fairly puzzling situations, because many times the kin are in denial, and do not opt for to admit that a loved one took his/her own existence. it truly is a lot less annoying for them to settle for a homicide. also, for coverage applications, many kin attempt to conceal symptoms of suicide, at the same time with notes, or maybe the weapon itself.

I think they pretty much close the case, once they thank a case is a suicide.

The investigate for signs of foul play. Often murderers 'pose' the body to make it appear a suicide when it is not.

only if theyrs any thing suspicious, alot of murderers try to cover up theyr crime and try to make it look like a suicide, thats when the coroner will conduct theyr autopsy and decide if it was indeed a suicide

they investigate to verify suicide but do not necessarily look into reasons
as this would take to much of police resources
