Just a note: The General Plan is to send more troops in to backup the Iraqi's whom will lead the fight. The Problem in the past is that the Terroist run, but soon return to start their killing spree all over again. This has been recognized, and our troop surge backing the Iraqi forces is to prevent this. So if the Terroist have a place to hide such as Iran, and try to wait out our forces, how long will it take? Also do you think Israel will Airstrike Iran, and Take their Land, keeping in Mind they have the latest Aircraft to do the job?

I honestly want front row seats to such an incident.
Freaks of Iran building a nuke and supporting everything from Hezbollah to whack jobs that are helping to keep Iraq disrupted. This is the same country that got over 1million of thier own to rush Iraqi positions with sticks to be used as fodder, its rediculous that they should be allowed to build or own a nuke. they'll use it straight up.
This is the place that perverted the word 'jihad' to carry the same negative connotation that it does today.
I dream of painting a target inside Iran for airstrike thus. A few key targets knocked out could preserve life as we know it on the planet for a little while longer still.
I do agree we probably need to stand down the GWOT. Eventually. Somehow.
There are portions of the patriot act that should remain however. We need to streamline business in both offensive and defensive operations to find a better definition between war and just taking out the trash.
However, there are still nations that do harbor terrorists so we cannot say exactly when and if ever this will be.
The standard set to hunt down and shut down terror cells wherever they may be and without regards to who harbors them is a standard set above what the UN itself would call for. Or even if they did, would probably prove impotent to actually do anything about, which btw has been proven already.
I feel we are pitched against the clock to stop madmen from being armed with doomsday devices. Simple enough. Securing Iraq will help. US tries to respect the immature mobs that have reasons to fear one another, unfortunately we also need this area to stage against Iran. Helping to stabilize them admidst their own civil war is really a wierd complicated, crazy situation, but we can't just let them duke it out while we need to be there now for bigger actual reasons.

The GWOT will last as long as the american people allow it to last. As long as we are for the war on terror and personal freedoms terrorists will always be there. This war could last for all of eternity given the way nature works itself that is if the human race was capable of lasting that long. I think Iran will attack the US or at least that is what they will say of course it could be very well that the US rigged it and that we will be drawn into a war with Iran probably the last world war this planet will see if it happens.

If terrorism is really based on Radical religious feelings it will last for ever. There is a possibility that all of the religion worship the same GOD, but simply call him/her/it a different name. Even different sects in the same faith have felt they are the only "Correct" faith that is going to heaven. It is interesting that many faiths have their own version of the 10 Commandments. The more radical the sect is the more they seem to loose sight that 30% of the commandments deals with mans relationship to his GOD, While 70% deals with mans relationship with his fellow man. The highest this break down ever gets is a 50/50 under Jesus. His statement was to Love God 1st & the 2nd part was to Love your neighbor like yourself.

As I was saying the more pious the individual is the more he feels he needs to convert you or distroy you. It is almost as they are saying we love you so much we will go as far as killing you to convert you, because we want to see you on the other side. This is a bit bizzare.

Every leader that I've heard of that prayed before a battle thought GOD was on their side.

The global war on terror is hardly that.

The global war on terror, is a poorly defined mess of a confrontation between different camps of dogmatic militants.

Neither side has any idea how to properly define the scope of the conflict, nor how to clarify victory, or for that matter defeat.

How does one combat a noun?

I think its safe to say that the American military has terrorized its fair share of civilians. Pragmatic statesmanship has demanded that the American political elite make difficult decisions.

The same is true of America's many allies, enemies and neutral observers.

The current struggle against terrorism seemingly opposes dominant military authority against more limited non-state, or Islamic state funded quasi-political groups.

The harder established military institutions combat these organizations, the more they validate many militants' causes.

One way for the American government, and her allies to combat the military backing for these non-state actors is to tackle numerous social and political barriers to economic and educational fulfillment throughout the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa.

I don't see that happening with any regularity any time soon.

I don't know I'm 37 and this war has been going on one way or another for as long as I can remember I honestly don't think there is a military solution all you can hope for is that the people you know and care for don't get caught up in it.Maybe someday someone will come along with a solution that actually works

This war started when muhammad first told muslims to kill people for pagan moon god allah, and will not stop until muslims learn that allah is not the real God of the Bible and admit that muhammad was a criminal, not a prophet.
1400 years and counting. Don't expect it to end soon.
