well if your trying to find the value of x the first is x=5 i think you should do the second on your own in other words idk how to do that one

I'm trying my best in mathematics, though. i believe the equation is 4x=20 and 2x-7=8.

4x is Number 4 multiply with letter x. not number 4 and x (as in times) for example 2 x 1 = 2 or 3 x 2 = 6.
4 x = 20 means that 4 is multiplied by a number called 'x', so we need to find the mistery number in 'x'. To find out what 'x' stands for, you need to divide 4 from 4x =20
Calculate 4x/4 = 20/4 ( cross Multiply)
when you cross multiply it becomes 16x = 80
to find 'x' divide 16 from 80 and yoou'll arrive at 5.
therefore 'x' = 5.
to check your answer fix 5 inplace of 'x' and multiply it by 4. which equals what!

I'm not sure if those two equations are together as an equation :- 4x=20 and 2x-7=8.
if not. 2x-7=8
First: collect like terms
2x =7 +8
2x=15, just like in the first equation divide 2 from both sides
2x/2 = 15/2
x = 7 1/2 or 7.5.
well, i think i've helped.

4x=20 then divide each by 4

4x/4=20/4
this is equal to X = 20/4
X = 5

2x-7=8 then you add +7 to each side Also you can bring a number to the other side and the sign would be opposite. So - 7 to go the other side of the = would be 7. And if you had say +7 tp go to the other side of the = it would change to -7. So what ever whole number you change to the other side change the + or - to the opposite sign

2x-7+7 = 8 +7

2x = 15 then divide by 2 so x is the common factor

2x/2 = 15/2

x = 7.5 or 7 1/2

4x = 20
divide by 4
x = 20/4 = 5

2x - 7 = 8
add 7 to both sides
2x = 8 + 7
2x = 15
divide by 2
x = 15/2 = 7.5

You need to do the opposite operation to solve for x. To do this:

1. Find the variable. This is obviously x.
2. Figure out what is being done to x and reverse this.
-----In 4x=20, x is being multiplyed by 4. The opposite of multiplying is dividing, so divide both sides of the equal sign by 4. You end up with x=5. This is the solution
------In 2x-7=8, two things are being done to x. First, 7 is being subtracted. Add 7 to both sides. You will get 2x=15. Then, divide each side by 2. The solution is x=7.5.

do you remember the order of operations? PEMDAS..

1. Parenthesis
2. Exponent
3. Multiply/Divide
4. Add/Subtract

OK, you do these in reverse order to isolate the variable you want to solve for...

So first you eliminate those that are added or subtracted, then those that are multiplied or divided, etc...

So first you deal with the parts that are Added/Subtracted as in the second equation 2x-7=8 .. you do the OPPOSITE function to cancel it out.. in this case.. Add 7 to both sides since it is Subtracted and you get 2x -7 +7 = 8 + 7 (remember to do it to BOTH sides of the equation to keep it balanced.)..

2x -7 +7 = 8 + 7
2x = 15
now you divide both sides by 2 (because it is multiplied to x and you want to cancel it out to multiplying by 1)..

2x/2 = 15/2
x = 15/2 (or 7 1/2 or 7.5) depending upon the kind of answer your teacher wants you to give.

for the first equation...
4x = 20, since the 4 is multiplied to the x, you need to divide each side by 4 to get rid of it...

4x/4 = 20/4
x = 5

in the first equation, x=5.

Divide each side by 4, such that 4x/4=20/4. 4x/4=x and 20/4=5, therefore x=5.

in the second equation, x=7.5.

Add =7 to each side, such that 2x-7+7=8+7. 2x-7+7=2x and 8+7=15. Now divide each side by 2 such that 2x/2=15/2. 2x/2=x and 15/2=7.5, therefore x=7.5

it's easy and fun.

4 x is twenty Divide the 20 by 4 and you get 5
2x-7=8 so 2x=7+8=15 Divide 15 by 2 and you get 7,5
Hope this is ok Good luck

x=5
Divide both 4x and 20 by 4, then you get x=5.

x=7.5 or 7 1/2
Add 7 to both sides to get rid of it on the 2x side, then divide by 2 on both sides. Hope I helped!
