I don't think guys should have to put the seat down anyway. If you are talking about the lid, then it depends...
It's seat and lid up for boys, seat down for girls or lid down for show. If the boy is doing a number two, then the seat can stay down too. In that case, the girl is also getting the benefit of 'seat down' without any effort.
If I leave the seat up, my gf can put it down. If she leaves it down, I can lift it up. If we both have to close the lid each time, we'll waste an average of 4.5 hours per year.

Guys tend to be smarter in this area and thus have no problem leaving it up. If they need to sit down, they make sure the seat is down first. If the need to stand up, they make sure the seat is up. It takes all of one second. C'mon ladies.

He should put the seat down, and the lid to...before he flushes.....all those germies getting all over the surfaces in the bathroom....his toothbrush......and how many guys you know that clean the bathroom regularly? EWWW....thats just way to many visuals....don't believe me check out what Mythbusters testing proved on this one!

Only when he has female guests or he needs to sit. That would be a lot of unnecessary work on a guy if he always raised and lowered the lid when he could just piss all over the rim.
