Use a product called The Works-Toilet Bowl Cleaner. You can find it at Wal-Mart. I moved into an older home that the toilets had not been cleaned for years. Used The Works in the toilet two times and I was shocked, it was clean. I did leave the cleaner for awhile before I brushed and flushed..Hope this helps...

Firstly, the staining is caused by deposits of limescale that are left when some of the water in the trap evaporates during periods of non use of the toilet, overnight for example. Limescale is an alkaline substance, therefore the use of bleach, also an alkali, is not recommended. So, having flushed the toilet, you should remove the remaining water from the "S bend" using a mop (and bucket) to soak up the water. Then you should apply a liberal amount of acid descaler and leave for as long as possible, overnight if you can. Scrub with a toilet brush to loosen any remaining limescale and dirt, flush at least twice, then clean the bowl, inside and out, with a regular toilet cleaner. A final tip, when applying the acid descaler, dont forget to squirt plenty under the rim as well, as there will almost certainly be a similar build up of scale there too. Having got your loo looking sparlking white and new again, all that remains is to remember to clean it regularly, preferably at least once a week.

A quick and easy try is to put several denture cleaning tablets in the bowl let set overnight. Average you could use 6 tablets, the worse the stain add more. In the morning scrub the areas with the toilet bowl brush and flush. If this does not accomplish it, wipe the stained areas with a fine grit sandpaper. Do not use a coarse grit or it will scratch the bowl.

First you have to lower the water level by turning the water to the toilet off and flushing the toilet. Then apply your toilet bowl cleaner and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Use your toilet brush to scrub. Use a pumice stone or pumice stick to scrub the ring and stains. Turn water back on and flush.

the best way to get to them os to flush the toilet and once the water drains turn off teh water. behind the toilet there are oval-shaped knobs. Turn it counter clockwise (I think). You will hear the water slow and then stop.
I find the best cleaner for the hard stains is Lime-Away.
Once you are finished cleaning, turn the knob until you hear the water start flowing again and the toilet will fill up. I would flush it before using.

Lime-a-way or CLR are your best choices, but be sure to use gloves as these products will burn your skin. If you have really bad rust stains, slightly drain the bowl and paint on this stuff called "naval jelly" it will take off any rust that is there.
