if freezing temps are common in your area, then you need to drain the water to a level below the skimmer box and return jet(s). the supply lines must be void of water as well. this usaully can be done just by removing any and all drain plugs, if not , compressed air may be needed. covering the pool is important to keep out debri that could cut the liner. stacking inter-tubes under the cover helps prevent ponding of rain and snow on top of the cover. this makes uncovering the pool much easier and cleaner in the spring. good luck

When I was a kid, we had an above ground pool. Every winter, my dad would drain it a little an put in, gosh I want to say they were 4 or 5 small logs. But you get the idea, something solid. I don't know why it worked, but the pool always came through the New England winter and the plastic liner was never torn.

We live in Michigan and have a pool. We have to drain the pool down about 18 inches, super chlorinate the water and then cover it. It does freeze in winter, obviously MICHIGAN!!! but have never incurred any damage to our pool, filter or heater.

you ought to first ask the hot tenant to bypass the drainage hose to run to the front of the homestead to the line. If that would not artwork, in case you reside in a subdivision it is an association bypass to the president of the association and seem interior the regulations there and oftentimes disclosures in there approximately swimming pools and drainage. this could be an somewhat elementary subject. If that that would not artwork take the owner and tenants to small claims courtroom. purely ought to have %. of harm and receipts for all ur products. LOL in case you have not got time for that purely take the homestead and change it returned so have been it drains into there homestead. (eye for an eye fixed)

You need to buy a pool cover to protect your pool. Your pool needs protection during the winter. You don't need to drain it unless it is an above ground pool.
