I've done everything I could, I gave her mylecon drops, I helped her release gas by putting her legs to her chest. I tried holding her and rubbing her stomach. I've given her Tylenol. I basically am just listening to her cry in the other room because I just don't know what to do. should I just let her cry til she falls asleep. The other night this happened and we let her stay up she was up for 2 hours and still didn't go down easy. BTW, she doesn't cry when I hold her, but only if I hold her standing up and she is upright. Is she just trying to get me to hold her or does she really have gas?

It depends on her age. If she's between 6 and 13 weeks old, you're probably dealing some with just plain fussiness. That is a peak fussy age for babies. My doctor says mylicon drops don't work well, but she recommended chamomile tea. I never saw much success with that, but she said it might help. If she's just fussy, I would say you should hold her. I know it's hard, and many people think you're going to creat a super dependent baby. But you don't get this time back. I've sometimes held my babies against my chest, chest to chest, when they are like that. I slowly move myself until I'm laying on my back, and let them sleep with me like that. It doesn't last forever- my son was sleeping alone, on his back, in his crib, by ten weeks old. My daughter is doing very well at 7 weeks. If your daughter is pretty young, don't be afraid to pamper and cuddle now- it won't create a monster. And gassy pain is less when they lie on their tummies.
Also, if you are breastfeeding, then check your diet. Avoid sodas and too many gassy causing food. If you are doing formula, you might want to try a soy-based formula. If you are bottle feeding, try different nipples on the bottles. It might simply be time to go to a bigger nipple whole.
Although I'm not against CIO completely, there are some babies that it doesn't work for. My son slept better if he was able to cry for 10 minutes to get to sleep- otherwise I would rock him for hours and nothing would help. My daughter is different- it's better for her to get her sleepy in my arms and then put her down. The crying for so many hours straight might be causing gas as well, as she may be gasping for air.
Again, I know it's hard, hang in there. Despite what many say, you really cannot spoil a newborn. CIO is not always the best answer...

Try some gripe water, it soothes babies stomaches, it was great for my cranky son! here's where you can find a store that sells it near you http://www.blissbymom.com/StoreLocator.aspx
Also try holding her putting a little pressure on her stomach, that may release some gas. Best of luck to you!

put 1/4 tsp of brown sugar ion 30 ml of boiled water and mix. it helped both of my children with constipation from formula and with their gas too.
Also depending on which country you are in coloxyl drops work and Infants friend (it helps everything gass, constipation, teething etc) the brown sugar is great if you dont have any of the others.

Sounds like she has gas.
I was told to run two fingers up her spine and if she wiggles then there are gas bubbles in there making her uncomfortable. But I don't know what else you can do for her. Sorry

I have always melted a pepermint stick in hot water, such as a candy cane and put it in a bottle for baby to drink. It always helped for me! Good luck!

When my son was little gripe water worked wonders for him, we used it for gas, hiccups and teething, it was amazing for him! Also you may have heard that gripe water has alcohol in it, you can get it alcohol free now.

depends, how old is she? if she is old enough to know that mommy is going to hold her if she cries, that is probably the case. gas drops will help with most children.
