You are far better off going with 2 hard drives IF you have the room for them in your system. (IF your power supply can handle the extra load, IF you have an available connector) In most cases, you will have no problem going with 2. In my opinion, 2 drives are better because you can use one drive to load windows, and use the other to load music/photos/videos/backup data/games. Why do this? In case Windows becomes corrupted and needs to be reformated, you can do so without losing your precious data/media/games. You can acheive this as well by partitioning 1 hard drive into 2 partitions, however if the drive actually fails and refuses to spin up, then you are S.O.L. with ALL data.
Also, 2 drives connected in raid can act as a much faster single drive, or as mirrored drives so both contain exactly the same image, which is nice if one drive does totally fail. There are quite a few raid options. Bottom line is, You have far more options with two drives.

I just done that. I decided to go with 2 160's because ,,,1. If one goes down it will not effect the other, and 2. With 2 separate drives I would have more versatility to partition them. I got Western Digital,,they have a pretty good partitioning and installation disc with them..

The 320. It'll have a faster data transfer rate because the data is packed tighter. There's not much difference between the brands as long as both drives are the same rotational speed.

Two hard drives can be use in a raid array and it's faster than a single hard drive. I prefer Hitachi but WD,Seagate and Maxtor make good drives too.

It depends on what you want to do, or if you know what you want to do.
I use 2 120s, one for system and apps, the other for data files.
That way I can rebuild the system disk whenever I need to without loosing my data.
Know that XP will not install on any disk(s) that have a partition other than the one you are installing on.

But that's just me.
you building a computer or something?
I personally like having 2 hard drive just becauswe it makes me feel less limited. But most people (smarter than me) would say get one hard drive.

oh raptor for sure lol, but really i would save the raptors for the actual OS system drive or drives if ur using raid ... but yeah really if its just for storage get the cheaper of the two ... other considerations are actual physical pluggin points for the drives .. do you have plenty .... u could always buy one of those cheapo harddrive pullout trays if u have a free expansion bay ... thats wat i do ... got about 10 pullout harddrives with different junk on them ...

That depends solely on what you intend to do with them. I don't have a brand name preference.
