Yes, Bush did everything he could to avoid serving in Vietnam, as did most of his Republican buddies.

Kerry on the other hand volunteered to fight the communists in Vietnam and served bravely and honorably.

He was in the National Guard, part of the Air-force. He wasn't called in, but to answer you question simply, no he was not a draft dodger.

Well if you joined the Air Guard after say around 1975 then no...but if you did before then ..well....maybe. But the Russkies were our enemy and just because everyone else in the military was killing Viet Cong, sombody had to fly Air Defense aginst the REDS
