Freedom of speech. The Supreme Court ruled that images are a form of speech. Therefore, these websites can show pornographic pictures. However, there are certain guidelines in the community - in some situations, certain acts are not permitted to be shown; and in all cases, it is illegal to allow children under 18 to access the sites.
In practical terms, it is very difficult to regulate these sites. And since providers can easily move their site to a server in a foreign country, it is unlikely that they would be closed down even if they are not conforming to local standards of decency.

Whether you like porn or not, adults over the age of 18 can look at pretty much anything they want to (except kiddie porn) -- that's called "freedom" :)
There's been a lot of legal case law on this. As long as a site makes a reasonable effort to keep those under age 18 out, it's perfectly legal. That "reasonable effort" usually means asking for a credit card number, but using a birthday age verification scheme also is acceptable under some circumstances. Can teens "cheat" and get onto these sites anyway? Yep. They can also buy porn magazines in stores with phony ID (or just by looking old enough). The web is no different.
Pornography is NOT illegal in the US. It's just supposed to be for adults only.

The porn industry is a $10 billion a year industry, it is equal to what we spend on all professional sporting events, it is more than what is spent on Hollywood movies, and video games. Many people that tell us we need to get rid of porn are spending money on it or the industry would not outsell the NFL, the NBA, and Major League Baseball combined.
It is legal because people are buying, including the conservative christians

Not sure on what basis you think they would be prohibited. Primarily, the answer to your question is in the 1st Amendment to the US consitution, which prohibits any restriction on the rights of citizens to free speech. The United States Supreme Court has determined that free speech was meant by the Constitution's framers to mean free expression as well as free association. Sex websites qualify as the kind of expression and association that the Constituion requires to be free.

Because it has followed by the U.S. cyber laws. Also it is hard to establish jurisdiction over the web and that is why cyber laws do not cover every type of web business.

some human beings are somewhat sicko's. they somewhat get off with information from offending you, and or others. they don't have any existence, and as such have not something better to do. in the journey that they were given NO reaction from everybody they could maximum likely dis-look or they could attempt something else.
