I sent my barely 19 year old ex-girl friend to college in Manila. She is now a registered nurse in the Philippines. Her allowance was 15,000 pesos per month. Unknown to my knowledge, she spent the rest of the money to maintain her boyfriend while in college.
The tuition fee was less than 30,000 pesos per semester.
I sent her textbooks published in the USA. One Nursing textbook can cost $80, give or take $20.
A 30,000 pesos per month allowance might be extravagant. This might already include allowances for disco, expenses for girlfriends, entertainment, vacations, and other non-related expenses just for education alone.

It can be as little as P 1,000 ( $20) a month for bedspace at a boarding house per month up to P10,000 ($200) for a furnished private room (Aircon) with meals included. Most students near us eat at calderitas (small mom and pop resturants) at a cost of P30 ($ .60) for a meal. Average tuition is P28,000 per year plus uniforms, testing fees, registration and other misc. expenses.
We live just down the street from a communtity college and have a large student population here. Plus I have 2 kids in college here and am well aware of the costs.

For college students, tuition fee can range from 10,000 pesos up to 40,000 per sem... this is not including the exclusive schools that can cost up to 75,000 pesos per sem. Snacks cost 20 to 30 pesos, lunch from 40 to 80 pesos (chicken meals in fast foods is past 70) Transportation from 6pesos up per ride.
I'm a Nursing student at Fatima QC, my tuition right now is 20thousand pesos per semester, in my 3rd and 4th years it will be 40 at least. Book allowance of 4,000 per semester, 200 per day for food and transportation... uniform is 450 up per set, you'll need at least 3... pe uniform 350 and up... photocopying allowance...yes if you need to rent a room or share a bedspace, 1,000-2,500 per month. If your student is not living at home, breakfast 30, lunch 80, snack 30, dinner 80...
