This varies from woman to woman (girl to girl). ON AVERAGE, a period cycle is 28 days and lasts from 3 to 7 days (average being 5). Menstrual cycles can actually be longer or shorter (I know a woman who only had 4 periods a year, yet was completely healthy).
Many psychological and biological processes affect a woman's menstrual cycle (such as stress, weight loss, age, physical activity, and of course, pregnancy/nursing status).
Birth control pills also affect it and can regulate an irregular cycle or prevent menstruation altogether (such as what often happens when using Depo-provera overtime).

On average, a woman has a period every 28 days. But no woman's cycle is like clockwork, so the only abnormal length of a cycle is no cycle.
Most periods last 4 - 7 days. Again, this is something that varies from woman to woman and eved during any given woman's childbearing years.

it is supposed to be every 28 days, but not everyone does. Many women have theirs every 21 days. A normal period should last only about 5 days. With me that was not the case, I was getting ..my period every 21 days and they used to last for about 2 weeks. After going through loads of treatment for my periods I had to have a hysterectomy 8 weeks ago at the age of 38.

Everyone has their own cycle - the average is once every 28 days for 5 days. Some people can have cycles of 14 days, and others 35 days.... and it can last up to 8 days. Hope that helps.

It normally occurs every 28 days, but it can be slightly different from one woman to another, it can extend to 32 days sometimes. As for how long it lasts, about 5 to 7 days, but I've seen people where it can last up to 12 or even 15 days and to tell you the truth, I made my own relation with this extension, I'm not sure if it's medical related but with close observation of myself, a few friends and family I have found that honey, cinnamon and chocolate extend it.

Menstruation is a cleanse that takes place to prepare the womb for conception. It is interesting that the length of the period varies. Those in the school of hygiene (American Health Sciences) such as Herbert Shelton talk about women with a fresh, raw, organic vegan diet sometimes eventually not menstruating, the idea being that their wombs are 'clean' and safe for implantation of the egg without sluffing off the month's consumed refuse that makes its way into the uterus. It's a very interesting thought... so, you see, there are some women who don't have a period at all, and who are healthy, and who ovulate. One person who claims not to menstruate is dancer-endurance athlete-raw vegan, Tonya Kay. http://tonyakay.com
