Generally a strong knowledge of classical music boosts your aptitude for mathematics. But, music isn't going to make a person do better on a test. In actuality, music playing in the background can help a person concentrate on one thing. That thing in your case may be studying. Thus, your listening of music might help you concentration while study for your test, but wont make you do better on the test.

I am not saying that it is definitely true, but if you record yourself stating what you need to know and listen to it at night while you are sleeping, it has been known to work. people do it to pass tests, lose weight, stop smoking. I have noticed that if I listen to the radio at night while sleeping, I can hear a song in the morning and remember alot of the words.

it depends what music. but just make sure it's not something you can sing to. i personally like rock and loud music, but there have been quite a lot of tests that say that in order to stay relaxed and concentrated, the music needs to be soft. like classical. loud music, or music you normally sing along to, is not a good choice, cause it hypes you up, causing you not able to concentrate as well.

Yes, listening to music that you like will help you relax...but as Carla mentioned, having a pre-recorded CD with positive thoughts on it will probably help even more.

"Generally a strong knowledge of classical music boosts your aptitude for mathematics."

No it doesn't. I don't like classical music much but am pretty much the best at my school in math...

Rather, listen to songs that you like. Try more instrumental stuff, because you don't want to start singing the songs. Not classical, just more instrumental.

Yes, soft background music is not only calming, but it helps you concentrate on the material that you will be tested on.
