It is cheaper than buying a new stick every season...

Throughout the season your stick takes damage from hitting the puck with no protection and it can splinter off a little here and there...

but, if you tape it (and keep it covered) then it takes less damage and your control is more closely the same every game of every season.

The reason for taping the bottom of your stick is primarily to minimize the damage or wear or tear on the bottom. That's why you see people re-taping their stick all the time as the tape wears out.

Many people also include it on stick blades as it allows for better puck/ball control than on the bare stick blade. But the real answer is to minimize damage, as you can strictly just put the tape on the blade horizontally as I've seen some people do in my leagues.

Yeah, once you tape a hockey stick for highway, the backside is going to get shredded quickly! What you may attempt is particularly of taping around the blade, take some strips of tape and stick them around the blade; the two front and returned. this might effect in the backside of the blade being bare (that's what you want for highway) whilst additionally giving some greater suitable administration for stick coping with by utilising having the tape around the blade. attempt this and you may like it. on an identical time, you may want no tape at involved by highway yet a minimum of this might grant an selection.

i would tape it like everybody has said it helps with grip and helps reduce some of the wear and tear on the blade. you might want to check on the league you're in, i've played indoor roller hockey league that don't allow tape on the bottom of the blade. It never made sense to me but i've seen before.

Well my ex boyfriend plays indoor roller hockey. He tapes his stick ALL the time. I think that it helps him play better. I guess it just gives the puck more to hold on to. You should try it and see if it works.

the tape at the bottom of the stick is for 2 reasons:
1) better puck control
2) black tape is used to hide the puck from the goalie

NO!!!!!!!!

the tape is there to stop water getting into the Birchwood and making it expand. when it expands it cracks and you have to buy a new stick... also the tape helps with shooting the puck as it increases the amount of friction on the puck (which because it is on ice is wet and very hold - making it very hard). because of this friction the player can shoot the puck better.

It provides cushioning to receive a pass, especially in composite sticks, you have a slight better feel for the puck, and creates friction during a shot, which adds velocity and accuracy.

putting tape at the end helps to improve your grip. Its is not mandatory but does prevent the stick from slipping out of your hands.
