I have a 96 Dodge Ram with a 318. Sometimes when I start it up it will not stay cranked. The check engine light came on so I took it to an Autozone and they put it on the computer and told me I needed a map sensor. I put a new one on and it still does the same thing. Any advice?

You might have a plug wire that is cracked and arcing. I had the same issue with mine. Check the wires and plugs.

Try getting the code cleared from the ECU and reboot the system by disconecting the battery for 2 or 3 mins. Have them hook the obd code reader back up to it and see if anything else is sending a code. It should read clear but sometimes i have seen other codes come up after fixing one problem from before. Good luck.

Check Ur plug wires, Ur distributor cap, Ur points, Ur condenser, your alternator, regulator, your timing & battery cables, make sure they not corroded. If it's not 1 of those things I think you need to take it to a shop & have them work on it. 1 of the computer chips could be going out. Other than those things I'm out of suggestions. Good luck. I hope this helped U.

take it back to the zone. Sometimes it shows the first thing in line that is bad. Sometimes one thing will cause another to go bad. Mzp sensors are common problems, but it could have knocked out something else
