Mother Nature trying to make TO feel at home

I'm in Canada right now and it's actually warmer here right now than in north Texas. I think the cold snap is the result of a massive polar outflow from Northern Canada, and as both central Canada and the midwestern USA are very flat, there are no physical barriers preventing the direct flow southwards.

And while New Jersey is located northeast of Texas, it is influenced by warm ocean currents, definitely more so than Texas, so when this happens, Texas may be colder.

This is the reverse in summer, however, when texas is baking at 43'C while NJ is sitting at a cooler more comfortable 28'C.

Because there is moisture in Texas which cold air has plowed into. Further north (near the Canadian border) there is also not snow, even though it is colder, because of the lack of moisture.
Right now there is snow south of Dallas (near San Antonio) but none here in Dallas because the cold has finally piled up thick enough to form snow instead of being a thin layer for freezing rain as we have had for the last 3 days.
