I think police are doing their job and don't always understand the circumstances. They are trained to shoot to kill. They have to use their best judgement and can't sit back and think awhile about the possible consequences. It's not realistic. I think if there is good reason to suggest there was foul play, then by all means investigate. But if that person was commiting a crime or was a suspect and was fleeing. Then I am totally siding with the police and see no need for investigation.

In my criminal justice classes we have discussed this. My professor is a retired police officer and he says when someone is fleeing or is suspected of having a weapon you shoot to kill not to disable.
