i think the first part is about Christ ('betrayed with a kiss'...maybe even the 'barbed wire fence' as a metaphor for the crown of thorns, i'm not sure) and the second part is about MLK jr.

This song is definitely about Martin Luther King Jr. and Christ. They both made the ultimate sacrifice all "in the name of love." What more will be done before the world is at peace? Who else acting for love alone will be brought down? Another powerful message from U2....

It's definitely about Martin Luther King JR, I think. I checked the dates.. MLK was assasinated April 4, 1968 in Memphis. I guess you Christ sort of works.. If you take out the April 4, and the "shots.. in the memphis sky"

I believe "One man come in the name of love" means that he presented what he had to say in the name of love.

"Early morning, April 4;Shot rings out of the Memphis sky" refers to the day that Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated.

The last lyric is about the shooting death of martin Luther King, Jr. He was shot on the balcony of his hotel in memphis, TN.

I think the man that came in the name of love is about Jesus.

-"One man come in the name of love" means he had sex w/ someone because he was in love. The next line "One man come and go" means that guy just has one night stands.

The other line means someone got shot in memphis on april 4th... dont know who... sorry
