The muslims on the Dispatches program where evil. I know that not all UK muslims share the ideas and thoughts of those evil people, but this is clearly a problem. Does anyone know how widespread these extremist ideas are in muslim communities in the UK. I cant believe that people can get away with saying we should kill homosexuals, hit women, and wage a holy war against all non-Muslims.... I think this proves we have a huge problem in the UK... possibly caused by our tolerance and the fact that we have let Muslims into a country which had relatively no Muslims 20 years ago. Are there too many Muslims now in the UK? Do we believe the Muslims on the documentary that say they will wage jihad (war) on the UK at some point in the future? Scary stuff....!

I agree that there is evil in any religion... but this seems more widespread?

Rest easy - you have to put this into context - there will be no holy war in the UK.

1. There are always a handful of fanatics in any movement (religious or political) which makes emotional appeals to hearts and minds. A documentary is not going to focus on the moderate majority - that would make too boring a programme.

2. The UK has seen attacks by bombers of varying ideologies - not just muslim suicide bombers or the IRA - but life and society still goes on. Here are some examples.
a) The far right. David Copeland, the "London nailbomber" of 1999, belonged to the neo-nazi far right.

b) Anarchists. The Angry Brigade were anarchist urban guerrilas who detonated a number of bombs in London between 1970 and 1972.

c) Scottish nationalism. The Scottish National Liberation Army sent dozens of letter bombs in the period 1982-83.

d) Welsh nationalism. The Free Wales Army attempted to disrupt the investiture of Prince Charles at Caernarfon in 1969, with explosions in several locations.

e) Animal rights. As recently as September 2005, the Animal Liberation Front carried out a series of firebombing attacks.

3. In the UK, representing a constant 8% of the population, there are more atheists than muslims, but never has there been a secular uprising to overthrow the vestiges of organised religion which are all around us.
