You have a regular issue bronze 1 centavo coin from the Philippines, issued during the self-governing commonwealth period. The Spanish language was used to describe the denomination due to influence from Spanish rule from 1521-1898.

The Philippines was ceded to the United States as part of a settlement in 1898 and was granted full independence on July 4, 1946. During the United States administration, Congress was responsible for issuing coinage. During the commonwealth period(established in 1935), coinage was issued primarily at the Manila Mint and at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints in 1944-45. No Philippines coins was issued during the Japanese Occupation period.

It would be interesting. The U.S. was driven out of the Philippines in 1941 by the Japanese. What is the Spanish writing on the back? Hold onto it.
