I have a hard time with normal OTC drugs, as well. They usually don't work, so I have to take a higher dosage - usually double, at most.
The most effective combination for me, when I cramp really bad (or even with migraines, period or no period), is to take 2 Anacin (400 milligrams of aspirin in each pill) and 2 Midol Menstrual.
If it works for me - and everyone tells me I am crazy - then I will guarantee that it will work for you. I'm 24 years old - and I don't cramp often, but that combo really does work for me.
Also - if you have high stress in your life right now - that could be another problem that is effecting your cramping. High stress is always what did it to me, to where I could not stand.

Sounds like you need to see a doctor. There is a reason you
are hurting so bad. Also a doctor can give you some medication
you can take. While you wait for your appointment use a heating
pad and lay with your feet elevated slightly. Get or give yourself
a gentle massage in your back and around the ovary area. This
should help you somewhat.

To alleviate the immediate symptoms of cramping, lay on your back on the floor, scoot your bottom all the way up against the bottom of the couch/sofa, and then rest your legs, bent at the knees, on seating area of the couch/sofa. A gynecologist will be able to offer a more permanent solution, like perhaps a form of birth control pill...often they can regulate periods and reduce cramping.
DO NOT TAKE ASPIRIN if you are under 21!!! And don't take anything your parents don't know you're taking, if your not an adult. If your allergic to Naprogesic, then you could possibly be allergic to other over the counter meds...and never, never, mix medications without physician or parental supervision.

A heating pad is my best friend during the 2 days of cramoing i experience.
At drugstores they sell these self-heating pads (thermacare i think) that you can stick on your body. They have knee ones, back ones, and they even have oval shaped ones for cramps.
When you open the package they automatically start heating up and they stay hot for like 10 hours! You ust stick the oval shaped pad on your belly and in a few minutes your cramps are soothed...plus you can walk around with this heating pad as opposed to ones you have to plug in! And you cannot see it under your clothes!!

How about Ibuprofen? That's a pretty basic muscle relaxer.
If not then I suggest a heating pad or a nice hot bath.
If your cramps are really that awful, you should talk to your doctor about some form of birth control to ease the pain.

I'm not sure that this qualifies as an emergency, but...here it goes. No, I do not shave above my knee, only below. However, during the summer and skirt season, I used to get my upper leg waxed. Then, when I started getting too many ingrown hairs, I got laser hair removal, which is awesome and probably too expensive for a teen.

Aw poor thing. You can take a bath in warm water that helps ease the pain. Excercising like yoga can also help. Definatly take some Excedrine it stops cramps for my friends and I in like 5 minutes. If you keep having pains that bad go see your gynocologist to prescribe you something or to see what the problem is. Feel better.

I know this sounds weird and kinda crazy but I do a little breathing type thing. You are prob thinking that I have no idea what I am talking about but just try it, it might help.
first, breath in and as you do(think in with the good air) then breathe out and as you do so (think out with the bad air) repeat and the pain will decrease.
This takes your mind off of the pain and helps you relax better

Have you discussed this with your doctor? A proper course of treatment would depend on lots of factors, including your age, if you've had children, how heavy your periods are, how long - you get the idea.
Before you go "natural" = over the counter, please check with your physician. "Natural" doesn't mean safe. Stick with safe - which means decided after an exam and probably some lab work.
Good luck.
