A couple of friends have a good one from Lands End called the stadium squall, but they only make that for women now. Anyone out there with cold winters that can recommend a great long (I think it also might be called "stadium" type coats) coat. Can you also provide a link. Thanks!

Long wool overcoat or a coat from LL Bean like the Warmup jacket.

'Wear layers as opposed to one big coat, so you can adjust as the temperature changes. Also, layering traps heat between the layers, and is thus more effecient at warming your body.

Yea, Joe is the first with the best answer. Wool overcoats are the best!!! Good, heavy, black, wool overcoat! Sometimes the factory outlets for some of the retail heavy hitters like London Fog, Brooks Brothers, Polo Ralph Lauren, etc... receive some great coats at discount prices during the winter months

Yahoos directory with some links for outlet shopping is:

Also layering does work the best, a couple layers each of shirts and sweaters or sweat shirts along with sweat pants under loose fitting pants and you're golden.

I lived in Alaska for some years and Eddie Bauer has degree rated coats and jackets. My parka is rated -30 and my husband's is rated -20.
