I would like to update my computer in the future...mine is a Dell Dimension 4300 from late 2001 with Windows XP Home Edition built in.

i wouldn't recomment home basic as it's not much of an improvement over xp. i would recommend home premium.

Windows Vista Home Premium will cost Rs 10000 in India. It is about 250 $ in the United States

Do not listen to them, vista will blow away mac, obviously they have never checked all the new features Vista offers unlike some others(mac)*cough*. And actually do some research instead of wasting time waiting for answers, oh yeah and Vista is a huge leap from xp.

Your PC does not have the hardware to support the Vista. New PC $600, Vista $289-$2000 there are like 6 licences.

Why do you bother? Did you bother to look on line? Or did you just want to ask here because the price may change?
Reality is maybe you should look online before you ask the general public such a dumb question. It's not like there isn't ONLINE STORES!

i wouldn't if I were you...I heard there are a lot of problems with vista, and that it would be better to keep xp.
