I don't understand that situation at all. It makes me wonder a lot and I'd like to know for sure what the story is.

Probably under great duress, fear. People who are traumatized by being held captive often identify or bond with their captors, it's called the Stockholm syndrome. Kind of like Patty Hearst joining the SLA who kidnapped her and then participating in the illegal acts they did. It's safer to stay with the captor than try and run or escape, because you aren't sure what the outcome will be of that. Usually the captor will make threats to kill your family members or mentally put in you in a position where you think your family wouldn't care about you and wouldn't notice you're gone.

Hence why as Sean Devlin he posted on his ' parents' site asking how long they planned on looking for their son?

You know the neighbors said that they heard the guy that kidnapped him brutally beating someone in his apartment, as well as other unmentionable things to that poor boy, how would you have reacted. He was probably scared to death, he feared that something bad would happen to his family if he said anything. Have you seen the guy that kidnapped him? he is like 6 feet 4 inches and 350 pounds. So think about it. I think if anyone is to blame for this the neighbors should be held accountable for not calling the police when they heard that stuff. Sean is alive and relatively well he should be left alone to get over this traumatic experience.

Most likely it's because Devlin threatened him. Being at such a young age when he was abducted, an adult can manipulate a child very easily, telling him things that aren't true such as empty threats. Those are things that can very easily frighten a child and he's not going to take any chances trying to escape or flee because of whatever Devlin told him.

We will find some out tomorrow on Ophrah.

I believe that he was maturing with a girlfriend and it was time to stop what was going on. He rejected Devlin and had the upper hand, so to speak, and so Devlin was forced to find someone else.

He had tons of opportunities to leave. He was left alone, he was able to go places alone.

Living locally in the St. Louis area, I have not heard that he was beaten, I have heard that the Police were called as they heard yelling going on in the apartment.

It does seem a bit odd but Devlin could have told him all sorts of stuff. Didn't he tell neighbors that his mom died in a car crash? Abductors often tell their victims all kinds of stories about their family dieing or that they don't care anymore. Over time kids believe this stuff and give up. I'm sure there will be further reports on the case once he has undergone extensive psychiatric counseling.

Have you ever been in that situation? He was probably scared to death and brain washed, he was only 11, who knows what that sicko told him. Maybe the kidnapper told him that his parents were dead and he had to come live with him. Let's not criticize the boy, he has been through something horrible that I would wish on no one.

I am asking the same question. What did that old guy do to him? Did he totally take him to be his sex slave or did he take him because he feels empty inside? I don't know but that guy is creepy for any reason why he took him from the boys' family.
