hi demon!
c++ is a programming language, which is the object oriented version of the "c" programming language. it is used in video games a lot since applications programmed in c/c++ can be very fast.
*definitely not* the basics! learning c is easier than c++ and for that i highly recommend k&r ansi c. this book makes it as basic as it can possibly be:

"basic" is also a programming that's more basic than c and c++. do a search for 'basic programming language'.

C++ is a programming language..you can't really say its the basic..but if you know one language you pretty much can learn the others with just the different function names etc.
Other programming languages include, FORTRAN, BASIC, C, C#, C++, JAVA, SQL, ASP, JSP, HTML and many more.

C++ is an object oriented computer programming language. If I ever get motivated enough I'm going to learn it.
