I loved the movie, and I was really excited to see Brian J White in it...he is so fine :)..I thought the dancing was really good too and creative, and I loved the stepping...I can't wait until it comes out on DVD also...
I don't think that it made African American youths look "shallow" at all, and I don't know where that opinion is coming from...And I don't see why it would insult people who go to college just their education...There is nothing wrong with wanting to have some fun between classes or studying...I think the movie portrays not only the academic part of the college experience, but also the social aspects as well....

The dancing is creative
But the movies is an insult to any African American who attended college for the soul purpose of getting an education
we are not all as shallow as the characters portrayed in that movie
its a shame though because some preteen or teen will think that that's an accurate depiction of real life ,only at Homeboy U
& Ganster State University ....how many times can you tell that story see:you got served ,"Freedom writers aka Dangerous Minds..Why Dear God are all movies portraying Young African Americans so shallow and Lame why?

i thought it was great. and to respond to the person that said the movie depicted youth as shallow, i would have to disagree. there are many points in the movie where the main character criticizes others for caring about dance and that he was initially at school to get an education. there are several other examples of this throughout the movie.
