Government programs designed to help the poor in America made the people dependant on the government aid, rather than on being self-sufficient. The assistance pays better than work, and the government doesn't help people with daycare so they can work.
People new to the country come here to work, not to live off the government. Work = success.

I don't know very many but of the few I do know.. I'd go with harder workers.. They aren't very successful where they're working but they sure kick some *** as far as work goes.
I do think you're wrong in your approach with this question though.. African's come to the U.S. for a reason while the others were born here.. If you don't see a differance with that then I don't know what to tell ya...

You do have a way of asking very annoying questions (without being specific) don't you?
First of all most Africans do not have the stigma of slavery in their past and upbringing. Most Africans have been taught from the get go to work hard and get an education ( as they can only escape poverty this way)
You are not really looking for an answer are you? just looking for an outlet to rave and rant on.

Because recent emigrant whites and Arabs are also seem more successful... Hard working ppl with good education & disciplin ... seem to be let into the country that seems keep expenses for education low.
Actually most emigrants tend to be in the most active young years when they arrive. There should not be much difference with comparable native groups.
What do the statistics say? I have no ideas where to look.

Well, I'll tell you ... but, please don't accuse me of being an American..... even though I am.
It is the American system of education . The African Americans don't do any better with the system than the rest of us ... ... should they be any different? I wish it were so ... but it fails everyone. I cannot really say why. I am hot on the trail of "why." ... and I can't bear being that nasty, but one must face things.
I think America is reeling under the illusion of reverse snobbery ... a kind of egalitarianism gone bad. With the exception of a very small percentage of the population, culture is looked upon with either a universe of scorn, to paraphrase a writer I know, or as something cute and chic .... and only we have discovered it. It is as if we deny our interest in culture, and our sensitivity to it. It is as if we can do without Mozart or Bach, as if Michelangelo were not a genius, as if the great scientists were not also great people ... We seem to like to rub out all reverence and respect for people with a great, big smudgy eraser and walk away, dusting our hands, and saying smugly, "There! Take that!"
I don't know WHAT is wrong with Americans, but something is hurting badly somewhere.
I recently asked for information on this site about
English education. In addition to the information I sought, I also discovered that the English are far more understanding and forgiving towards those who "underachieve." In fact, it is not stated that way. Where American negativity came from beats me. I recall waiting for a train when I was in
England, and across the tracks suddenly spied a
large billboard saying, "Year after year, more and more people live comfortably with cancer!"
This was say, 1975, a time when Americans were still saying, in other words, "OOoooooh, goody, goody! You got cancer! Serves ya right.
I'll see that they get ya good! (SMASH!!!!!)
Americans SCOLD so much. We are the nastiest things I have ever seen!
I had a young friend who immediately upon learning that I knew the French language, even to the slight degree I do actually know it, decided to mispronounce the name Le Creuset (cooking ware) as "Lay Crusette." Before that she got it perfectly. She also took great pains to either flunk or cut short some of her college classes (she had the money to waste). Speak of neurosis! Funny thing is, she is extremely cute, very talented, and an absolutely teriffic art teacher. But, with a penchant for flunking the more serious side of life.
I do agree with you about Africans coming here...they are attractive, well-groomed, well-educated, and they do well in a lot of different ways. Partly it is because they are of an economic class that can afford to come here in the first place, but I think it is because their cultural environment is higher than ours. I have seen African women who were so beautifully dressed that I had to turn around on the street and look ... and the same goes for the men... I saw a man once in African garb ...pale pink embroidered caftan and loose pants, against his very dark skin... my heavens, what a piece of work!
With every African I have ever met, even if the education was modest, the attitude is greater ...
I don't know what it is ... but I can't help wondering
(here I go) if Americans aren't being punished for walking onto this continent and taking over ... for shoving aside the native peoples...It is something mighty strange: we can't even brew a little cup of tea without damning the Lord, saying "bleh, bleh, bleh" ...we can't even look out the window and see how beautifully it is raining without complaining about it ... When an Indian (Hindu) looks on the rains, he says, "Ah, it is raining!" ... in such a tone of voice that you know he means that the gods in heaven are gracing the earth ... There is something so d****d
screwy that I wonder that God (oh, yes... that person who does not exist!) even bothers to feed us. He sure makes us take on the burden of war, though. Maybe that is punishment for some things (ahem) that we have done wrong....Oh, God.... you know, I returned to this country after many many months of happiness elsewhere, and I have not been able to escape it yet...it is like a Bermuda triangle, but on land.
Back to your question: the Africans are more successful because they are a higher class of people, and I have seen them thinking so too!
Let me wiggle out of this now..
Cheers!

You know, that's an astute observation there. I try not to generalize any group of people, but the Africans do seem to have their act together more. I've come across African professors, computer repair guys and business owners. They just seem to be hard-working people; and they usually have a smile on their face to boot.

In my personal experiences working with both, I find what you say to be surprisingly true also. As to why, my guess is the Immigrants from Africa come from such sh*t places, then come here with an abundance opportunity and take full advantage of it, instead of relying on government handouts and whining about racial injustices.

If you line people up, most whites probably wouldnt be able to tell if they were born here or not.
As any immigrant who comes here to america, its better than their homeland.
Plus you have to bust your butt off to be successful anywhere. Doesnt matter what you are but how hard you work & a bit of luck.

First of all, Comments like this would not be brought out the fore front openly if you were to be seen or noticed. You have to hide through the internet and you are having fun addressing silly questions just to stir up people. Go find something else to do.
