What is the point of Celebrities?

and why are there so many television shows whose intention is to create more celebrities (American Idol, Top Chef, America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, ect.)?

because the writers for the good shows either died or retired and now they need ideas for shows so they come up with lame ones like that and the people making money on these celebrities think people want to look at them or read about them when in actuality too much of anybody is really annoying. And there's too much attention on these celebrities these days that is really overbearing.

I think it's good, in a way. I can't imagine not having access to the talent of Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, John Stevens (Yes, I'm so glad that style of music is coming back!) and others. Don't like or watch Big Brother. I'm glad Survivor gave us Elizabeth Hasselbeck, because she's the only one I like on The View now that Meredith is gone, and I kinda liked Star, too.

They serve a purpose sometimes.

their just flesh puppets.....entertaining us and sucking our money from the pockets dry. The show's are pointless but seem to drag you in. The people who really matter are the producers and the directors living out there passion through media...Animators need more respect too (:

well some celebs do good things with the advantages they have. they get free stuff and hopefully they donate to people who need it more
