dig out old photo albums of you guys from the past and reminisce.
or...buy a book called "what if..?" It gives you tons of scenarios about life and other things...questions you've never thought of. This is a great way to explore your spouses mind in ways you never thought of.

One problem with games etc, is that they aren't too great, when there is only two of you.
You could invite some friends over for a game or two.
You could also plan a movie night for yourselves. A movie that you both would enjoy.
Set up a scene, perhaps with candles, soft music, a fire blazing, is you have one. Set up some nice wine, cheese, apples etc.
If you aren't knowledgable about wine and cheeses, you might take a course at a local City Colleges that carry those courses. It would be a fun and simple way to do something together without the kids, and let you meet other adults.
Check out your local College, and get their brochure, the courses offered are wide and varied, and inexpensive.
Just don't let the night happen, when the kids are off to bed, plan something. Even if you can only do it one or two nights a week
It will give you something to look forward to, and to have the fun of planning it out.
Even if you can't get away, send for some travel brochures, of some exotic locales, or some place that you would love to visit.
Maybe London, Rome, Paris, etc. even if you never get to go, you can talk about it. You can enjoy thinking about those places. You could go on the internet, and visit those cities, most have web sites, and videos.
It seems just by asking the questions, you are already planning something other, that sitting on the sofa at nights.
Good luck and enjoy your nights together.

Cuddle on the couch and rent a movie, share a pot of tea or a drink together and just talk about things. Play a card game. Watch a television show you both like in bed and if you fall asleep, you're already tucked in. Share a bowl of ice cream and tell each other jokes you've heard or emails you thought the other might appreciate. Get out the photo albums and look through memories together. Give one another a massage. Although, with this one, the massage usually puts the person to sleep so it's often the next night the massager gets their turn. Take a shower together and then put on your warmest pj's, cuddle up and talk about each of your dreams. Dreams you have together and any you have for yourselves. Give each other a foot massage. I personally like to play pac man on the television with plug and play. Make bets on who will win whatever it is you are playing and then keep track. Agree on something fun for the winner each time. Talk time was always my favorite thing at the end of the day. It sometimes could go on for hours. You think there's nothing to talk about and one subject leads to another and 3 hours later, you're falling asleep. One thing couples need and often lack, enough communication. Make it a nightly ritual after getting into bed. Happy loving!

We make popcorn and watch a movie together or play a board game. If we are just too tired, we will snuggle up on the couch and take turns massaging each other's hands. Believe it or not, a hand massage feels amazing, and it is quite easy to do without fatiguing your arms like a back massage. It is a great way to reconnect.

Get some great massage oil, or just baby oil if the budget is an issue. Add some soothing music, soft lighting and some iced herb tea, and rehydrate, renew well-being, replenish the spirit, and work out the pains of the day for each other.
If you think this would embarrass you, substitute some wine for the herb tea.

Shower together, hop in bed and cuddle in candlelight...depending on how tired, put your candle on a glass plate so nobody has to get back out of bed to blow the candle out.

When the kids go to be, why don't you two go to bed. You don't have to make love, just snuggle and appreciate each other for a while.

When the kids are in bed and you don't feel like having sex, you make Milk shakes instead.
