how friendly can i be with a woman i know who is married. She is someone whos character i find very appealing and whos company i enjoy. Can we be friends? Is it inappropriate that we should spend time in each others company. Nothing intimate. Just sharing space and time.

In my opinion, I find nothing wrong with it as long as you and her know and respect your positions and situations. If you feel that this may lead to something else, I recomend you step away while you can, because once you get involved it might be harder to make decisions, and someone might come out hurt.

Patkav - In USA a married woman's husband thinks something is going on even if you are a gay flamer. That makes it almost impossible to just be friends with a woman who marries. You can maybe be friends at work and eat lunch together and stuff but that is about it. If you call her at home - the hubby gets real real mad and she then takes it out on you. He may say he is fine with the friendship and even encourage it, but then he will throw it up to her in every one of their fights and she will resent you instead of him. Women do not have the same logic as men. Not better, not worse, just different. My advice is to find friends that are not married if you want more than an occasional lunch partner.

Interesting question, I must say. I had several guy friends when I first got married and it caused a lot of problems with my husband and I because he is a jealous person. I personally see nothing wrong with it. But I guess it depends on how her husband feels and how she feels about it. Are you the only guy friend that she has? What kind of hanging out are you planning on doing? I think it is fine and I hope she has the kind of relationship with her husband where he thinks it's fine too. It is so hard to find good friends in this world and it would be unfortunate for people to limit friendships based on gender and marital status. Good luck to you!

I am friends with many married women.
It can work out if you keep it friendship, nothing more.
My son has three best friends.
When we go on vacation, usually 1-3 days, a couple of times we went for 14 days, we take his 3 friends along.
When they come, their 3 mom's come along, too.
We are all in a van. And we LOVE it together. A lot of laughs, a lot of talk. I wave good by to their husbands as we drive off.
So you can have friends with women, including married women.

You can be friends for sure. But are you sure you can keep that within limits? Just know your limits. She's someone's wife. And hope that someone is not Micheal Tayson. Cause he'll kick your a** for sure.

Dont do anything to ruin her marriage, and if it comes close to that leave her alone.
