I have a 2 week old son and I just don't know how much he should be eating every 2-3 hours. I'm talking about formula not breast milk.

most newborns drink about 1-3 ounces every 2-3 hours. Congratulation on your bundle. Just keep feeding as much he wants. At this age you do not have to worr about over feeding him. Also make sure you are having lots of wet and poopy diapers. This will help you know if he is eating enough.

Newborns are all different, but generally he will probably drink 2-4 ounces every 2-3 hours until he is a little older. 4 ounces every 4 hours is pretty common for a baby about the 3 month age. He will eat as much as he wants so if he only takes an ounce sometimes, that is OK and if he takes 4 but still seems hungry that is OK, too. It takes a good 6-8 weeks before a baby will settle into a semblance of a routine.

My kids started out at 2 1/2 to 3 oz of formula. I increased it gradually as they wanted more. If your son seems to still be hungry after you feed him then increase your bottles an ounce or two. Your child will definately not eat if he is not hungry. So don't worry about overstuffing him just don't force him if he doesn't want to finish.

If i remember right, my son had 3 ounces or so every 3 hours 24 hours a day for the first few months. You really should consult your peditrician though. Im sure this is something they will tell you over the phone anyway.

My son was eating about 3 ounces at two weeks. It will increase very quickly. My doctor always told me to feed him every 4 hours but my son wanted to eat every 3 hours. Let him eat what he wants and he will be fine.

During the first few weeks, my daughter drank about 1-1.5 oz. every 2 hours. Some babies will drink a lot more than that, though; my little girl is still a small eater. As long as he is gaining weight, let him lead you and don't worry too much about the amounts.

each baby is different, if your child is content and happy then he is having enough. Here in Aust. on the back of the tin theres a rough guide for how much a child should be having how many times a day.
if hes loosing weight or not putting it on go see a doctor. But remember a babys stomach isnt very big, (his stomach is about the size of his fist. So dont expect alot.
