I think Winry and Ed would make a cute couple. In the FMA manga, there are lots of hints that Winry likes Ed, and Ed likes Winry. Winry knew that she had fallen for Ed, but Ed was still in denial of his feelings for her. Try reading the manga, and you'll find out. If Ed will fall for someone, I definitely believe that he would fall for Winry.
The story in the anime/movie and in the manga are very much different. Rose was just a minor character in the manga, unlike in the anime, that she had an important role.

I always thought Al and Winry actually made a better couple. Ed, being a quite the hothead, just gets under Winry's skin and makes HER a hothead. Al, being fairly level-headed, would more or less balance her.
I think Rose or Noah (who I think are actually inter-dimensionally the same woman) make better mates for Ed. They sorta short-circuit his short fuse.
Hmm. Used "short" twice in that sentence, didn't I?

NEVER!!! Just good friends. Even though I'm dying to see Ed with another girl, I can't picture it bcuz of how short he is and how short his temper is. He's so serious, BUT SEXY!! I wish though it would be with Winry
