what are some of the foreshadowing that the author, John Steinback, uses?

one instance of foreshadowing occurs when ... i don't remember their names ... i haven;t read this book in years ... but when the skinny guy tells his friend to remember the place they are sleeping in and to return there if he gets into trouble .... and then of course he does get into trouble.

i wish i had this when i needed to get homework done! ;)
They discuss a great deal about Lenny getting into trouble AGAIN, and the George's repetition that recurs throughout the opening conversations-the story told in such a tired and exhausted way and how he makes absolutely sure that Lenny remembers the place where they are in case of trouble-surely the certainty that trouble WILL follow them is the point there.
Hope this helps!
