Rep. Charlie Rangle called Saddam Hussien's execution a lynching. Do African Americans feel insulted to be put in the boat as Saddam. I think he just insulted every African American in this country and everyone who fought in the civil rights movement in the 50's and 60's

Rep. Charlie Rangle is in his seventies and obviously senile. Not a good pick for the House Ways and Means Committee.

I would like to think that the word lynching isn't tied down to African Americans or any other group. Lynching, as a form of murder, is applicable to anyone anywhere. I haven't researched Rep. Rangle's comment or anything, but based on how you phrased your question - no, I don't feel insulted. My people aren't the only ones who can be "lynched."

Thanks for your concern Tom but....i dont feel insulted. According to Dictionary.com Lynching means: "To execute without due process of law, especially to hang, as by a mob"

But i do think that Charlie Rangle insulted all the families of the men, women and children Saddam killed. Saddam got a trial even though everyone knows without a doubt he was guilty. He got what he deserved and to say that it was a lynching is insulting to his victims!!!

look the word up in the dictionary. The definition of 'lynch' fits the events surrounding Saddam's execution fairly accurately.

Not offended.

Charles Rangel is black and he was part of the civil rights movement.

Why he equates Hussein's execution to a lynching though is unclear.

To call Hussein's trial and execution a lynching is insulting to the English language!

I am offended by your use of the word "boat!" You are insensitive to the billions of fishermen, pleasure cruisers, and all others who have lost their lives because of faulty boats!

You are also very flip with your use of the word "execution."

I think we should all become so overly sensitive that we cease to be able to communicate!

My husband is Cherokee. he's purely indignant by African individuals who assume specific therapy because of the fact of "what their ancestors went via" while interior reach individuals nonetheless stay in poverty on reservations. ---EDIT--- i think I might desire to've reported 'people who call for specific therapy'. yet, as much as i might decide to proceed my techniques on that, I refuse to alter into entangled in some variety of ritualistic which-race-has-extra-mind-blowing-to-whinge argument, notwithstanding i will say that throughout the time of terms of who complains extra... hmmm... no contest.

You're the one putting them in the boat with Hussein, not Charlie!

Some people are getting way, way too cynical these days.

first off real americans are not hyphenated. do you realize half of those victims of the klan were white? did you know only one person died as a result of the alabama marches? a white housewife. are you only concerned with black peoples feelings? do the whites that fought for civil rights matter? i think people are getting carried away with comparisons on yahoo.
