DAMN IT! I made my own anime cartoon and he thinks i copied the idea that looks like Eve from 'Black Cat'. What he doesn't know I've created this character since I was 13 years old- now i'm 16. I've made some additional changes on her (her name is 'Ariel', LOL) about her eyes. Her eyes only change when she is possessed to a certain demon I've created. Her demonic eyes look like cats' eyes, only it's yellow and lime green. He thinks I copied it from 'Black Cat" BUT it was my own idea. If you submit this kind of artwork to colleges, will they hang your head for doing something like this? It's my character, I did not copy and I'm proud of Ariel becuz she's mine and I'm her creator. But what if someone looks at this and thinks i copied? Is it ok?

Need ur opinion guys....

Well just because ideas come off similar to something else dosen't mean that they are copied. Although our minds flourish with different ideas, it's highly possible and does happen frequently that people end up thinking up very similar thing and if one was something popular and one wasn't, people tend to think it was copied. So just because you have something similar to the black cat anime/manga series dosen't mean you copied it. It's ok if people think you copied it, if you know you didn't and you created it, just simply let them know how long you've worked on that character, plus to be honest I think it isn't a big idea, in the anime world alot of character designs by different artists look similar and alot of story lines have alot of similaries that you could think they were copied, but that's usually not the case, it's just a popluar style. (for example, Bleach, Busou Renkin and the new Venus Versus Virus anime all are stories where the main character has ability to see the 'monsters' and come across someone who fights and exterminates these 'monsters' and become partners, yet they all are popluar and although some people may say one copied the other, i think it's more coincidence and it's mainly copying when you directly take exact character designs and story elements exact by exact)

Many anime characters look similiar to another anime characters.

If your character look similiar to another character or even characters, don't despair, it happened a lot.

If you want your characters to look different from another characters, I suggest you joint your characters' features with features from another characters, then progress your characters from there on.

You should crossbreed your characters.
