I've been bitten by a jelly fish already, but I recently went to the beach and in the water recieved an electrically shock
that lasted 5-10 minutes throughout my entire body..it was different then a jelly fish bite and there were no welts or scars..what could it have been??

lion fish, eel, stingray, stone fish

It could be many things. You should consult a doctor if you feel different.

In bony fishes,common stargazer, Eastern stargazer, or banded stonelifter, Kathetostoma laeve. Certain rays and skates such as Cortez electric ray, Narcine entemedor, Pacific torpedo ray . I believe all of the electric eels capable of shocking are freshwater and therefore not considered marine.

Hey Amanda N. This is Amanda H. That sounds scary....I think it was a stingray, or an eel. But whatever it was...the stinging part must have not been fun...

that shock that you have felt was an electric eel. If it had touched you, I don't think that you would be here to talk about it. some have lived and some have died.

I know stingrays do that - stick a stinger into you and give you a cramp that takes a while to go away.
