How can I date an antique compass found in New Mexico?

Compass found near mines in New Mexico. Cardinal directions and numbers engraved. "Made in France" also engraved. Made of silver, which is very tarnished. Glass covering disintigrating around edges, and is not completely clear.

French Silver is very desirable... If it is in good condition... You may just have a little fortune in your hands.

Unfortunately, as I always tell people, I can't tell you anything unless you show me the item. I need a photo!

You want to date a compass. Now I've heard it all. jk
Take it to an antique store to get it appraised for a few lousy dollars.
