If you buy a computer with XP installed, you should get a COA with it. But you're asking if you can get another one free from Microsoft? The answer is no, you can't. You would have to convince Microsoft that you don't have the original CD, and that's a little difficult to do any more.

Well you should have a Manufacturer's OEM version of Windows XP Pro, the OEM is the custom built OS for that specific company, if you dont have that CD and your warranty is still intact (and you can prove it) the company will be more than happy to give you a new Win XP Pro OEM CD, but if your asking an original non-OEM version then you MUST PROVE your comp has been upgraded using a upgrade disk, or else Microsoft will not give you a free XP Pro disc.
O YA..........................if you decide to copy an XP CD then make sure you use an old one because the new XP Home, Pro, Media Center 2005 are copy protected, you must know how to break it (which is illegal). But use an old XP CD if you wish to copy.

You can just copy an XP CD. As long as it's the same version that's on the computer, you just use the keycode on the coa if you ever need to reinstall.

Most vendors that install an OS are licensed to do so by either providing a recovery disk or by providing a licensed copy of Windows XP. If you did not recieve a Windows XP disk, than you will not be able to obtain one.

Yes, you can get a disk from microsoft. No, it will not be free. You do, however, have to have a valid MS key for it. That sticker is worth $100US. The cd is only around 10-20 bucks.
