My husband has pain after he eats around his throat and stomach almost like acid reflux or heartburn indigestion. He takes stuff over the counter for pain, I am worried sometimes it is hard for him to talk. Do you have any idea what this is or what type of doc. to go to. He has no primary care but does have med. insurance.

It may be hyperacidity or duodenal/gastric ulcer . He should go to a doctor as soon as possible.

I would start with a Gastroenterologist providing he has no other symptoms that relate to cardiology such as L arm pain, jaw pain, increased fatigue...etc. If it is reflux his esophagus may be getting damaged leading to Barrett's Esophagus which is pre-cancerous. He may be having hiatal hernis discomfort or esophageal spasms. Best to get to the doc soon.

It sounds like he really needs to see a doctor. You could start with a general practitioner and go from there. The next step would be a gastroenterologist.

Good Luck!

A general practioner to start. He will probably refer him to the specialist he needs. Don't put this off!

Hello there, I would suggest you visit your General Practitioner, and will usually refer you onto any specialists if they think its required. Is your hubby a smoker? does he currently take antiacids? is it certain foods specifically?
