It seems like there's no one out there who likes AFI anymore :( The majority of people who consider themselves AFI fans (no offense to anyone) are the ones who were attracted by Miss Murder and Love Like Winter. I myself was one of the Miss Murder ones, but unlike many others I've become interested (a better word would be obsessed) enough to really get their old stuff. I have everything from 1999 on, and am looking for Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes (I'm going in chronological order backwards, starting with DU and ending with ATaSF). I like their old hardcore rock better than their new alternative.

What I'd really like to know is, who likes AFI's old stuff?

P.S.: I'm going to an AFI concert on Feburary 3rd :)

@ Lance D: I consider Davey the most hot man OR woman on the face of the earth... o_O I'd have to disagree with Davey being a woman, however you did give me a laugh :)

No, what you said is wrong. There are many of us long-time AFI fans. You just have to go to the AFI and DF board to see. Long-time AFI fans are very obssessive, loyal, dedicated and we're very defensive about AFI, that's why you shouldn't be surprised if you get told off by them because most think that new AFI fans are just teeny-boppers.
Having said how AFI fans are very obssessive and dedicated, you can't say that noone out there like AFI because older fans don't just drop AFI off and stop liking them. There are alot of us Fall Children, you just have to look for us.

Though, I see what you mean about those who consider themselves AFI fans are new ones, but I think that's just because older AFI fans have gotten through that stage of telling everyone that they're AFI fans. Besides, you'll just sound like teenyboppers and fan girls if you always go "I'm a big AFI fan!!! I love them, they're so cool, I love Miss Muder!!!"
We don't need to declare that. Also, I think the fact that they've gotten more popular has got something to do with it. Back when AFI was more underground, I'd tell people about them all the time, but now, I couldn't be bothered because everyone knows them. The fact that there are some haters out there is also a factor. We know we love AFI and we're AFI fans, we just don't need to declare it to everyone.

As for you getting into their older stuff, I think that is frreaking awesome!! Nothing gets on my nerve more than talking to kids wearing AFI shirts and asking their fave AFI album and getting the response "They have other albums?" sigh.

I hope you enjoy your AFI concert and get obssessed with the band like most Fall Children. Rock on!

I like older AFI more than the newer stuff. My favorite is anything from Black Sails in the Sunset. Decemberunderground is ok. I think its a downgrade from Sing the Sorrow. I really like electronic music but prefer to keep my electro and afi separate. Hopefully Blaqk Audio will be decent though. Answer That and Stay Fashionable is always fun to listen to for a good laugh.

I love AFI, and I think I'm one of the few that can say I <3 almost all their songs. I had Sing the Sorrow on loan from a friend, and avoided them for almost half a year so I could keep listening to it! I have three-fourths of the All Hallow's Eve EP, a lot of Sing the Sorrow, some decemberunderground, and a few from Black Sails/Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes.

Davey looks very good as a female (in my opinion, better than he did as a man) but the Devil's Lock? No. Bad. I liked the long hair.

Totalimmortal is awesome, Halloween makes me want to mosh everytime I hear it, and Morningstar? For those who have heard it, enough said.

Raz p, who do you think you are? Rachael's my best friend and I think I know her better than you, so let me clarify a few things.

First of all, she knows everything from this one album (I think it's Black Sail?) on until now. Her favorite song is (correct me if I'm wrong, Rach) Narrative of Soul, which is from that album. She just called me and vented her anger, and I figured I should step in. She's really upset that you're one of those countless people who assume everyone who entered the AFI world through Miss Murder is someone who isn't bothered enough to even get into their old stuff or even buy the album. Trust me, she's been OBSSESSED with AFI ("they consume every fiber of my being with their awesomeness" she has said many times) for more than six months now and you have no right to just assume she only knows those two songs. She knows over 70 songs by AFI (she told me so, and it's not hard to believe!) and you should just f*ck off and leave her alone.

AFI is one of her only things she has to cope with her life (her life is really screwed up), and you're making things worse for her. She only asked this question because she needed to know that there are others out there like her.

-Cindy

AFI ROCKS! and yes, I do like the old stuff. Also don't used the word "obsessed" So you know 2 songs of AFI's by heart, like "miss murder" and "love like winter", BIG DEAL. Do you know some of the first songs by heart? I didn't think so.

AFI was my favorite band in eighth grade. I think their best release was Black Sail, followed by The Art of Drowning and the All Hallows EP. I haven't heard anything of DU except the single, but I can't believe they made a song that is, in my opinion, that bad.

I liked the only old songs I know by them (a grand total of two) more than the entire Decemberunderground CD; I did like Decemberunderground, though. So I'd consider myself an AFI fan.
