The best place to view stepcharts online has to be DDRFreak for Dance Dance Revolution games and ITG Freak for In The Groove games. I am not sure if anyone has this much coverage for the Pump It Up series. Also a good way to practice is by using StepMania, a free dance simulation game which In The Groove is mostly based off of. StepMania allows you to download song packs which installs the music and stepchart into the game. There are thousands of songs available including those from Dance Dance Revolution and In The Groove. I also strongly recommend you get In The Groove for PC/MAC because it loads all stepmania songs (with .ogg music files only) and it can stack the mods for each catagory which is something StepMania can't do yet. You can even find songs for all DDR games at www.ddruk.com to download for Stepmania (registration required).

Tips to learning advance stepcharts on songs:
Try increasing the speed modifier to "expand" the stepchart. The timing of the arrows is unchanged when you increase arrow speed its just that the arrows scroll up more quickly and are therefore more spread out and easier to read. Based on what the BPM (beat per minute speeds are for the song should determine what arrow speed modifer you want. For example a BPM of 50 for me will require me to pump it up to x5 speed (making the arrows scroll at 250 BPM) while a song with anything over 350 BPM usually makes me stick to 1x only. Also C-Speed Mods in Stepmania and In The Groove help to learn steps without worring about changes in the actual BPM.

Arrowskin modifiers like Metal or Cel in In The Groove or Rainbow (a.k.a. Solo) or Note in Dance Dance Revolution also help seperating arrows from one another. Basically these mods will color coordinate arrows to their placement in the stepchart so when arrows are clustered together it becomes much easier to see what is next.

For each paticular song you have problems with you should try to find a player you know who can pass that song and ask if they know any manuvers for paticular patterns in the stepchart for that song to get help on.

Last the best thing you can do is just practice. The more you play the more you will get better.

www.ddrfreak.com

They have a complete listing of every song and every difficulty with a step guide for each song.

I would also suggest you use the training mode in DDR to get more acquainted with the steps.

Remember, keep practicing. You will get the steps eventually.

DDRFreak will show you the steps to DDR and ITG songs.

Red means quarter, blue means eighth, green means 12th (or a note with a denomintaor a multiple of 12), and purple means sixteenth.
