I would strongly encourage you to look at the joint Law/Social Work program at the University of Denver. Both are good schools and the degree can be done in 3 or 4 years. There are other schools that do this joint program (Buffalo I think maybe Albany.., look at schools with both programs. If you have an interest in both do both..there are many jobs on both sides of the fence and over time you can drift in different directions.

You can do both! Getting a law degree can prepare you for many fields of work, including social work. For example, there is a very high demand for legal help for those that cannot afford to pay private sector rates for it. There are also many lawyers in the public sector that don't do what is considered social work. Many licensed attorneys don't even practice law. By the time you finish law school, you will know what interests you most and you can pursue that upon passing the bar exam. Good luck!

they are both hated.. does that help.. Social workers work with abused kids and are well known for "taking the kids out of the home".. they are one of the most hated professions there are.. (I will leave my opinion out of this).. If u have a master's or doctorate, u can have ur own practice and do therapy or work in a hospital/drug rehab doing therapy, discharge planning, etc.. u pretty much know what a lawyer does (I hope).. SW (unless u r in ur own practice) work hard, and get paid little... Have u thought about criminal justice.. U can work in almost any field with a degree in that..

Social workers are more noble but don't get as much money. Sometimes they also have to work for a frustrating bureaucracy.

Lawyers get a lot of money and can often be self employed, but everyone hates them, except other lawyers.
