Hi Phil

That is a long tim for a page to load and i came across a similar thing like your not so long ago

If your running McAfee Total Protection or some of the individual components, There is somewhere in the configuration that allows you to disable the huerist scan on webpages, and another check box option.

as far as Norton Internet Security goes, i cannot see any problems there either as i have another computer which runs that and they are having no problems with surfing the internet

if neither of those are a problem, might be worth reinstalling the modem software and see how you get on from there.

Also your firewall programs might be confliciting with each other on Windows XP with its own and the one that you have install but in most cases, the Windows Firewall usually disables itself and puts the one that you have installed in its place.

Do you:

Have lots of backgroud processes running?
High CPU % usage

(Both show by Ctrl + Alt + Del)

Also do you have:

Anti-virus running constantly
A personal firewall

All of these things slow a system down

If you have high CPU usage and backgroup programmes you may need more RAM (memory).

If you have a Personal firewall (not the windows firewall) disable it then try.

If you've defragged and cleaned out you temporary files and downloaded your pics to disc, then its BT having a bad day, they do sometimes if there is a problem with their phone system near you.Or you could try switching off your BT router and let it cool down I find this works sometimes

Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.
