Most appeals I have done take at least a year from the date the appeal is filed until a decision is reached.

It depends on when the appeal is filed, the courts calendar, the size of the award and how deep the other side's pockets are to tie you up with their lawyers. In other words, as short as a year or as long as five years.

Remember OJ. The families got awards and just how much have they collected? There is no clear answer without a lot more info.

Good luck anyway.

Depends on the law, the court and the judge's schedule.

In Florida, the first appeal goes to the presiding judge, who can dismiss it. If the judge does not dismiss it, it would depend on his calendar. It could be a 15 minute hearing and easy to squeeze in or it could be longer. Either way there may more days in court.

Then, it can go to an appeals court who can take it up or refuse to hear it. If it is dismissed, then it is generally over. Otherwise, it all starts again.

That depends on several things: where you live, what was the cause of action, the already backed up docket, etc. In some places it only takes a month. In others it takes several years. Your attorney can help expedite the process.
