Essentially, you're decellerating from 100 km/h to 0 in 1.0 s.
First, get the speed in m/s to keep all the units consistent:
100 km/hour *1hour/60 minutes * 1 minute/60 seconds * 1000m/km= 27.8 m/s
(you could just as easily have converted 1.0 s to hours and gotten an answer in km)
So your accelleration is the change in velocity divided by the time it takes to change:
(0 m/s - 27.8 m/s)/(1.0 s) =-27.8 m/s^2

x = v0t + (1/2) * a * t^2
= (27.8 m/s) * (1.0 s) + (1/2) * (-27.8 m/s^2) * (1.0s)^2
= 13.9 m

question was how far you travel BEFORE you apply the breaks

100km/h converts to 27,778 meters per second

100km/h = 100.000 meter per hour
100.000 meter per hour / 60 = 1666,667 meters per minute
1666,667 meters per minute / 60 = 27.778 meters per second

so you already travelled this distance before even start to decellerate
