I would never allow friends to PICK my friends or lovers. However, its wise to keep open the option of "meeting" people through your friends. After all, who knows you better? Your friends usually know more about the real you than your parents do! So, by keeping a wide circle of friends, it makes it easier to meet new and interesting people THEY know.

Your question is not clear. Do you mean "Would you pick your friends over your boyfriend or would you pick your boyfriend over your friends?" And pick him or them for what?
